Printing Labels

Names and addresses in the Contacts app can easily be used to print labels.

1. Open your Contacts (formerly Address List) by clicking the icon in the dock .

2. Create a new group under All Contacts  with a suitable name by clicking the + button at the bottom of the sheet.  Copy or drag those addresses for which you’d like labels into the new group called, for example, Print List.

3. Click on Print List and choose File -> Print from top menu.  Click Show Details at the bottom. In the sheet that appears (below), choose Mailing Labels from the Style pop-up menu. .

4. Click the Layout button and from the Page pop-up menu below, choose the size of label  to use – often Avery Standard.  From the pop-up menu to the right, choose the specific label you’ll use, 5161 in this case.

5. Click Print, bottom right.  You could, of course, print on a plain blank A4 sheet to check the layout first.

There are many other methods (search Google).  The 2014 version of Pages does not seem to support a mail merge, where addresses or other details taken from a spreadsheet can be incorporated into labels or letters.  Word/Excel for the Mac does support this.
